Eric Clapton’s “Unplugged” Concert that changed my life!

Street Music In Florence

It was 1995 and I was seventeen. One day I was walking down the main road of my home town, Livorno, Tuscany, just wondering around. I was going through so many changes in my life and I was really quite vulnerable. At that age I went through some tough experiences and had to rethink everything about my life. I was so grateful I had the guitar. It helped me through those moments. It was my cure.

That day, in 1995, while walking down that street I saw Eric Clapton’s “Unplugged” album in the music shop. I bought it. That action changed my life! When I went home and listened to that concert my heart was filled with joy. That music was touching my soul. I couldn’t believe it. It talked to my heart and that’s when I decided that i wanted to write songs like him and become a singer/songwriter.

That one experience was the guideline of my entire career!

I had started playing the guitar at the age of ten, thanks to my father that used to play some songs. As soon as I handled the guitar it was love at first site. The emotions it gave me were something I had never lived before.

I taught my self to play and spent hours looking for new chords and writing my first songs. When I was fifteen I started going dancing and I lost interest on the guitar, maybe because everyone a knew in my group had different interests and I just followed the flow. I got back into it at seventeen.

When I was twenty I started playing in local clubs at night time while during the day I was delivering drinks in houses on a truck as my full time job.

In 2009 I decided I had had enough of my daily job and that I wanted to try to live a life that I wanted to. Quit my job, started working on yachts in the summer and playing full time in the winter.

Fast forward a decade: I have four albums recorded, an upcoming new album, songs for another 4 records, thousands of concerts in clubs and on the street performing as a street artist, more than 10000 cd’s sold and thousands of people met who have got my music in their houses. I’ve taken part in “Playing For Change” project and was chosen by the famous Italian actor and director Francesco Nuti to sing the soundtrack of his new film “Olga Ed I Fratellastri Billi” still to be produced, the only song Francesco couldn’t sing and he chose me to sing it (Francesco had a severe accident in 2006). My father loved him and I know he was so proud of me for this.

I have lived the life I dreamed of. I am so happy for what I have accomplished. I’ve played on stage in front of 3500 people receiving a standing ovation and tried my best to “make” it. What I have achieved I have achieved thanks to those who have supported me. As I like to say, “Musicians are nothing without listeners!”.

I look forward to continue doing what I love. I look forward to having you with me on this journey!

Thank you for being a listener and for your precious support!
